Part 10

Arnav leaned against the wall, arms folded and legs crossed over at the ankles casually watching the pool waiting for Khushi to come to the surface. His lips began to curl into a smile as he saw her arms reach out of the water first, flailing and splashing before her head came up, hair plastered to her skull. Their eyes met for a brief moment before Arnav's amusement turned to horror as he watched frozen in place as she began to go under again, arms still flailing around beating at the surface of the water. 'Shit!'

He leaped straight across the distance separating him from the pool landing with another almighty splash only a few metres away from her plunging down with his arms outstretched. As soon as his fingertips touched her body he pushed himself up and out of the water while gripping her waist in an iron grip. 'Khushi? Khushi?!'

He felt his blood run cold as he pulled her out of the water laying her down on the cold marble floor. He called her name again and again willing her to open her eyes as he first checked her pulse, relief shot through his veins at feeling the steady beat against his finger.  He cursed himself mentally for never having learnt first aid properly. He knew there was something about a recovery position and airways and such but he couldn't remember a damn thing as he desperately lowered his ear to her mouth to check her breathing. When he felt wet lips touch his own wet cheeks in a kiss he pulled his head back instantly, 'what the...?'

Khushi looked up at Arnav with a wide grin and winked, 'something wrong?'

'Khushi! You... you were acting?! Unbelievable!'

'How could you push me in? What if I actually didn't know how to swim, I could have...'

He bent down again crushing his lips against hers, showing her both his relief and anger as he kissed her harshly pulling her up slightly by the shoulders.

The position was slightly uncomfortable for Khushi and she put her hands around Arnav's neck pulling him down so she was again lying on the floor with him hunched over her before she deepened the kiss, stroking his tongue with her own. Arnav moaned into her mouth as he lay down on the floor next to her with the top half of his body covering hers.

'Since when did you turn into a sex starved maniac Bhai?'

Khushi put her hands on Arnav's chest and pushed him away roughly when she heard the voice as she tried to get up at the same time knocking her head against his chin and falling back down on the floor. The force of Khushi's head against his chin made Arnav bit his tongue, 'oh hell! Khushi!' He sat up hissing through the pain and offered his hand to Khushi but she disregarded it and struggled up to a sitting position on her own. 'Shut up Dhruv! What are you doing here?'

Dhruv was watching them with one eyebrow raised looking scarily like Arnav. 'Nani wants to talk to you both about your wedding.'

'What? We're not getting married!' Khushi stood up to face Dhruv who was now having trouble controlling his laughter.

'Of course we're getting married!'

'I'll just erm... leave you alone for a few minutes. Don't do anything I wouldn't do Bhai,' he gave Arnav an exaggerated wink before closing the door behind him with a grin.

Khushi began squeezing the water out of her hair as Arnav grabbed her arm and pulled her into his room before he let go to open the wardrobe and took out two towels throwing one in her direction. 'What do you mean we're not getting married?'

'Why do you just assume we are? You haven't even asked me yet!'

'How the hell was I supposed to ask you? Up until an hour ago I thought you were getting married to Dhruv! And what was all that about anyway, why did you tell me you were marrying him if you love me?'

'Why did you agree to meet Suhana?'

'That was after you said you'd marry Dhruv!'

'I only did that to help him and Suhana not because I actually wanted to marry him!'

'So you don't want to marry Dhruv?'

Khushi only looked at him as she threw the towel onto the bed giving up the hopeless task of trying to dry her clothes.

'Well then,' Arnav smiled slightly as he threw his on  towelonto the bed as well and advanced towards her until she had her back up against the wall. 'You don't want to marry Dhruv and I don't want to marry Suhana so...'

She looked back at him defiantly, waiting for him to actually say the words. 'So what?'

Arnav rolled his eyes and stepped back with a sigh, 'will you marry me?'

'No,' she put her hands on her hips and stood in place.

'What?!'

'Is that what you call a proposal? There was no emotion, no feelings! I already said I don't want a deal, I want a marriage.'

'What is it with you and feelings?' Arnav threw his hands up in defeat before he got down on one knee. 'I love you Khushi Kumari Gupta,' he said in slow measured and slightly sarcastic tones 'so will you please marry me?'

She giggled slightly at the sight of Arnav Singh Raizada bent down before her, still dripping wet, hair stuck to his forehead and standing up at odd angles where he'd rubbed it with the towel. She shrugged and looked away waving a hand at him indicating that he could stand up, 'why not?'

'Why not?! Excuse me! Where are your emotions and feelings now?' He stood up and held her shoulders pushing her back as her hands left her waist to rest on his chest. She began to speak but he cut her off with a quick kiss. 'It doesn't matter, emotions are overrated anyway,' he said before they kissed again.

---

'This is so exciting! We could have a triple wedding!'

'You're right Anjaliji! That would be so amazing! Me and Jiji getting married on the same day! And of course you too Suhanaji.'

'No Di! I'm not sharing Khushi.' He realised what he'd said as soon as every pair of eyes in the room turned to look at him.

Khushi caught Dhruv's eye and began to giggle as Dhruv covered his own grin with his hand. Arnav looked down at her sharply and squeezed the hand he was holding forcefully to make her stop.

'What I mean is I'm not going to share my wedding day with anyone. What nonsense is this anyway Di? Triple wedding? Are you trying to save money or something? I have enough money that we could have three weddings a month if we wanted to. I don't care what Dhruv and Akash decide but my wedding is most definitely not going to be anybody else's wedding day as well!'

'Excuse me?' She pulled her hand away from his grasp and put them on her hips as she looked up at him annoyed. 'Your wedding?'

'Okay, okay our wedding.'

'Well then why did you say your wedding?'

'Why did you say you wanted a triple wedding?'

'They're both completely insane,' Akash said with an indulgent smile as the five of them left Khushi and Arnav still arguing in the living room.
