OS: World of Our Own

Arnav looked at his watch and winced. He hadn't been home this late in months. He always tried to come home as soon as possible. Ever since his wedding he didn't get nearly the same amount of satisfaction from working late as he used to before.

When he got upstairs Arnav opened the door quietly in case Lavanya was already asleep. He didn't want to disturb her if she was. As soon as he opened the door he saw her sit up, obviously she'd been waiting up for him even though he'd told her not to. He smiled as she held her arms out to him as he walked towards her. He sat down on the bed and she hugged him from behind as he took his shoes and socks off to sit on the bed properly.

'Why aren't you asleep yet?'

'I couldn't sleep. I had to tell you something.'

Arnav took his jacket off and placed it on the bedside table before he put his arm around her and leaned back against the headboard, 'what happened then?'

Lavanya rested her head on his chest as she spoke 'Naniji shouted at me,' she said with a pout.

Arnav couldn't help but smile at the tone of her voice and he kissed the top of her head, 'you shouldn't get upset just because Nani shouts at you. You know she loves you really.'

'Yeah right,' Lavanya sniffed into his shirt.

'What did you do anyway?'

'Nothing!' I was just trying to cook something special for you and I made a mess. She didn't have to shout at me that much!'

'Lavanya, you don't even know how to cook. Plus that's what we have servants for. So you don't ever have to lift a finger.' He lifted one of her hands as he spoke and kissed her fingertips. When she didn't reply he realised his mistake, 'oh it was very sweet of you to want to cook for me though,' he added contritely.

'Mmm,' she mumbled into his chest.

Arnav could tell she was falling asleep and he stroked her back gently. She was so pretty, so beautiful. He loved her more every single day and it was all thanks to Khushi that he could even love at all. She had introduced him to this world where love made up for everything. All his past worries and memories seemed to pale in comparison when he looked at Lavanya and the amount of love she had for him.

Sometimes Arnav wondered what his life would be like if he had never met Khushi and it was a horrible thought. Lavanya wouldn't be here for one thing, that was certain. Before meeting Khushi Arnav had never imagined he could love someone this much. Hell, he hadn't even wanted anyone in his life and now the idea of not having Lavanya in his life to spoil, love and adore was horrifying.

Arnav closed his own eyes and leant his head back just enjoying the feel of her slow, relaxed breathing. The sound of the door opening after a few minutes had him looking up to see Khushi standing at the door waiting for him.

Arnav gently put Lavanya onto her pillow, pulled up her cover and kissed her on the cheek before going over to join Khushi at the doorway. 'I told you not to stay awake, Khushi.'

'How could I not?' She asked sleepily as she smoothed out the creases that had formed on his shirt.

Arnav put a hand around Khushi's waist and pulled her close to him, 'couldn't bear to go to sleep without seeing me huh?' He leaned towards her but Khushi pulled her head back.

'Arnav! What are you doing?'

'Kissing you, obviously,' he tried again but she put her fingers over his mouth.

'What if Lavanya sees?'

Arnav removed Khushi's hand and held it in his as he looked over his shoulder quickly. 'She's asleep. She won't see.'

Khushi shook her head at him but she leant forwards to meet him in the middle and kiss him back. He had one hand buried in her hair and the other cupping her face while Khushi's hands clutched his back pulling them closer.

There was the sound of bedsheets rustling behind them and Arnav and Khushi froze, although they didn't move apart.

'Eww! Mom! Dad! Do you have to do that here?!'

Khushi and Arnav broke apart and laughed before they began to walk towards Lavanya's bed.

'You should be asleep,' Khushi said as she and Arnav sat down on either side of Lavanya. Khushi pinched Lavanya's cheek, 'aren't you tired from harassing my mom all day?' 

'Dad! See, mom always takes Naniji's side!'

'Hey, come here. Doesn't matter whose side mom takes does it? You'll always have me on your side.' Arnav lifted Lavanya onto his lap while Khushi moved closer so he could put his arm around her.

'Oh really? So you're going to gang up on me now huh?' Khushi pretended to be upset but Arnav only pulled her closer to him

'How about we get you a little boy to be on your side?'

'No! I don't want a brother!' Lavanya interrupted before Khushi could speak.

'You go to sleep young lady,' Khushi told Lavanya smoothing down her hair before she moved close to Arnav's ear 'I think a boy would be nice,' she whispered before wrapping her arms around her husband and daughter and closing her eyes.

Arnav looked from Lavanya to Khushi and smiled before resting his head back. He wasn't sure he was quite ready to share his two beautiful women with anyone yet but he had to admit a little boy would only compliment his already perfect family.
