Part 3
Arnav looked up as the door opened and Khushi walked in, Akash stood up automatically and Arnav saw how shy he looked.
'Hello Akashji,' Khushi smiled at Akash who only nodded awkwardly. Khushi walked over to him and nudged his arm, 'still shy? That won't work anymore! I know all of your secrets now.'
Akash's eyes widened in horror 'erm... Khushiji I...'
Khushi laughed at Akash and touched his arm again, 'I'm joking Akashji. Come on, Di says we have to go downstairs.'
Arnav watched as Akash left nervously and Khushi finally deigned to look at him. 'Di?'
'Oh yes Anjaliji said that now we're going to be related we should call her Di.'
'So are you going to start calling me 'Bhai' as well now?' Arnav shouted at her before he stormed into his bathroom and locked the door. This was just all wrong. Khushi couldn't marry Akash! He couldn't let this happen.
'What? Arnavji, what are you talking about?' Khushi called through the door, horrified at the thought of calling Arnav 'Bhai'. 'I thought you would be happy?'
Arnav pulled open the door to face her angrily. 'Happy? What exactly is there about this whole wedding nonsense do you think would make me happy?!'
'I... I thought that now Naniji won't bother you about your wedding and I thought you'd be happy for Akashji so...' Khushi replied looking confused.
Arnav looked at her in disbelief. Did she really not have any inkling of his feelings at all? He'd thought that Khushi, more than anyone, even more than Di could tell what he was feeling. 'Oh, just leave it Khushi and get out!'
'What? No! I'm not going until you explain what your problem is!'
'I thought I just told you. This wedding! This wedding is my problem.' He walked past Khushi and sat on his chair opened his laptop and turned it on.
Khushi stormed over to him, shut the laptop and put her hands on her hips.
Arnav stood up in shock, 'what the...? Khushi, don't ever touch my laptop again!'
'Why not? What will you do?'
Arnav looked at Khushi looking so adorable even when angry and any altruistic thoughts he'd been having completely disappeared. There was no way that he could let her and Akash get married. It just wasn't a possibility. 'I... I... I'm going to tell Nani to cancel this wedding!'
'WHAT?!' Khushi looked on in shock as he stormed out of the room before her brain caught up with her legs and she began to run after him.
Arnav stopped at the foot of the stairs at the sight of Payal and Akash standing next to each other shyly while some man took pictures of them. 'What the...?' He took a step back and smiled, almost laughing as everything suddenly made sense. He didn't have a chance to revel in his elation as he felt a soft body collide with his and he turned instinctively to hold onto Khushi before she fell.
'Arnavji, please don't do this. Don't ruin my Jiji's life, she and Akashji love each other.'
'Khushi I...' He didn't have a chance to finish what he was saying before Di called them both over.
'Come on Chote, Khushi. We need to have lots of pictures to put up on the engagement.'
'Di, Khushi and...'
'Di! We're just coming!' Khushi called loudly interrupting Arnav.
'Khushi! If you would let me speak...'
'Please Arnavji, don't do anything. I'll never forgive if you do.'
Arnav held onto Khushi's arm irritated now by her refusal to let him speak. This girl really was going to drive him insane.
'Chote, Khushiji, aren't you coming?'
Arnav let go of Khushi's arm and walked over to everyone. He stood next to Di and Dhruv as the first couple of pictures were taken until the photographer said 'only the brothers and sisters now.'
As the rest of the family began to move away he stood next to Khushi who stood next to Payal and Akash with Di and Dhruv on the other side. Khushi looked at him slightly confused, 'but...I thought... why do you look happy now?'
'I am happy,' Arnav said with a smile and looked at the photographer.
'Closer everyone, come a bit closer.'
Arnav put his arm around Khushi's shoulder pulling her closer to him and she looked up at him shocked before the photographer spoke again and she looked away. She didn't pull away however and Arnav bent his head slightly closer to hers.
'Okay thank you, just the elder family members now please.'
Khushi tried to move away from Arnav and he let go of her shoulder and held on to her hand instead. Khushi gasped as Arnav started to pull her away but nobody else seemed to notice.
'Arnavji what are you doing? Where are you taking me?'
He didn't answer her question but took advantage of his distracted family members not noticing them and led her through his room to the poolside where he finally let go.
'Arnavji? Why have you brought me here? Everyone will be wondering where we've gone.'
Arnav took a deep breath in, looked up at the sky seeking approval not just from his Mom but her parents as well before he began to speak. 'Khushi you were right. I was unhappy with this wedding.'
'But why? Don't take your anger on me out on Jiji! She hasn't ever done anything to you!'
'Khushi! I' m happy now. I'm happy for Akash and Payal but I...'
'You what?'
'Khushi I thought, I thought you were getting married to Akash, not Payal.'
