Part 4
Khushi stood open mouthed in shock for a minute before she began laughing almost hysterically. 'Me? Akashji? Me and Akashji?'
'Khushi!'
'I'm so sorry... I can't...' Khushi wiped the tears that were falling from her eyes as she doubled over with laughter at the thought of marrying Akashji. 'Is this why... you were?'
'Khushi stop laughing at me!'
'Ohhh! I get it now! That's... 'Bhai'! So you were... Oh my god this is too funny. I have to go and tell Jiji.'
Arnav held onto Khushi's arms to stop her leaving but looking at Arnav's stern expression only had Khushi bursting into laughter again. 'How could you... I would never do that to Jiji,' she managed to choke out in between.
'I know Khushi, I just got confused and I... The thought of you and Akash together... I just. I wasn't thinking straight. Khushi I need to tell you something.'
Khushi tried to stop her laughter bubbling over at the sight of Arnav's serious expression, 'what?'
'Khushi I think... I mean I know that...'
'Chote?'
Khushi and Arnav looked back at the same time and they stepped back from each other as Khushi attempted to control her laughter at Arnav's expression.
'Oh good, Khushiji you're here. I was looking for you, I wanted to talk to you.'
Arnav looked at Khushi to see if she had any idea what Di wanted but she was looking away from him with a contorted expression on her face obviously still trying to contain her laughter.
'Come on Khushiji, sit here, you too Chote.'
Khushi sat on the chair next to Anjali and opposite Arnav, 'is something wrong Di?'
'Khushiji I wanted to tell you I understand how difficult this must be for you.'
Khushi's laughter stopped immediately, 'Difficult? What do you mean?'
'I know you'll miss your Jiji a lot once she's married but I was hoping I could solve your problem for you.'
'You can?'
'Yes. Khushiji I was hoping maybe... Payal has told me how when you were younger you always used to say that the two of you would marry brothers so you could stay together forever. Do you remember?'
Khushi looked up at Arnav shocked and embarassed, all her amusement completely gone now.
Arnav looked away from them both and smirked at himself. He should have known. How could he have ever thought that Di would want Khushi to marry Akash? It had probably been blindingly obvious to her how he felt all this time even before he'd admitted it himself.
'You've gone all red Khushiji! I guess I'll take that as a yes? You'll marry Dhruv!'
'WHAT?!' Arnav stood up while Khushi only looked at Anjali in shock.
Anjali stood up as well, 'Chote, just because you're not interested in marriage it doesn't mean the rest of the world has to feel the same way. Now that Akash's wedding is all arranged we need to think about Dhruv. Khushi's parents will also be thinking about Khushi's wedding now so it just makes sense. Come on Khushiji,' she pulled Khushi up who was still frozen in shock and began to walk away dragging Khushi behind her.
'Di! Wait!' Arnav called out finding his voice again.
Anjali stopped and turned, 'what is it Chote?'
He ran to them, stopping next to Khushi, 'I do Di. I do want to get married!'
'What?' Khushi and Anjali spoke at the same time.
Anjali let go of Khushi's hand to hug Arnav, 'Chote this is such good news! Nani and I will start looking for someone straight away. I'm so happy. All three of my brothers will be settled down. What more could I ask for?'
Arnav looked over Anjali's shoulder to meet Khushi's eyes wide open in shock.
'Come on you two. Let's go,' she held both of their hands and began walking through the doors as Arnav and Khushi continued to look at each other in astonishment over her head.
